Energy Transmission and Distribution

In the area of energy networks, in the context of the European energy policy, there is an intensive transformation and rapid transition of the centralised model of the electricity system to a decentralised model using low-carbon technologies to the maximum extent possible.

In the Application segment 2 - Energy Transmission and Distribution, the critical needs of distribution system operators are addressed with a focus on following areas:

  • new technologies for power flow management, improving the quality and safety of electricity supply, in particular new network elements based on power electronic technologies, fault management of distribution networks and fault location or protection of distribution networks,
  • digitisation of distribution networks, including solutions for a robust and secure communication infrastructure,
  • optimal operation and management of renewable energy sources,
  • future electricity grid architectures using microgrids with the capability of reliable autonomous operation, optimisation of energy use at the point of generation, interoperability in preparation for the implementation of community energy tools.
